Reading Journal

One of the ways that you will be using your English blogs will be to keep a journal of the books that you are reading.

Each week, starting from today, you will be writing a brief reflection on the book that you are currently reading. Your reflections may include the following:

* What the book is about
* What you have learned about the characters
* What you think the main themes/ideas/messages are of the book
* What you think of the author's writing style
* Why other people should/shouldn't read it
* Once you finish the book, you may like to give it a rating (you can choose whether to give a numerical rating, star rating, etc.)

Part of this activity will be that you can go onto other people's blogs to see what they are reading and maybe get some ideas about what you may like to read next. With this in mind, please do not spoil any major plot points when you are writing about your books!

Week 2 Homework

Image taken from Google images on 30/1/12

Hi girls,

Your homework for this week is listed below:

1. If you had any incorrect words during your spelling test today you need to rewrite the words correctly in your English book. For each incorrect word you should also practise using it correctly in a sentence. The sentences should be written in your English book as well.

2. You need to practise your new spelling words.

3. You need to complete pages 1 and 2 of your Grammar Textbook.

4. You need to read Chapters 3 and 4 of Ties That Bind, Ties That Break.

Remember that all of this is due at the beginning of next week.

Introduction

In this blog you will find the homework tasks for English, along with copies of any resources that you will need to complete the tasks. The site will also include any class activities that should be uploaded onto your English Blogs. If you are away from school, you should also check the blog to see whether the work from the day has been posted for you to catch up on.

All work that is completed must be done on a word document so that you can cut and paste your work onto your blog for teacher monitoring or it can simply be typed directly into your blog.

Along with individual tasks I will also include the weekly spelling list. Also relating to spelling, any incorrect word(s) from your test on the Friday must be corrected and used in a sentence (or sentences depending on how many you have gotten wrong) by the following lesson.

Your blogs will be checked regularly by teachers, and if need be, your blog address will be supplied to your parents/guardians so that they can also monitor your work. With this in mind, you should strive to ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
